A NEW ALLIANCE

Mont Edouard and Massif du Sud join the Compagnie des Montagnes de Ski du Québec. A new alliance that strengthens the regional ski offering and enhances value for mountain enthusiasts.

It’s another step forward in the unification of Québec’s ski resorts. Massif du Sud has just concluded a management agreement with the Compagnie des Montagnes de Ski du Québec (CMSQ), which already includes Mont Grand-Fonds (La Malbaie) and Mont Lac-Vert (Hébertville).

At the same time, the ongoing integration of Mont Edouard (L’Anse-Saint-Jean) completes this alliance of authentic, regional mountains.

Season pass holders at Massif du Sud, Mont Grand-Fonds, Mont Edouard, and Mont Lac-Vert will be able to ski across the entire network as early as this winter, with no additional fees or purchases required.

The agreement signed between Pierre-Yves Charest, owner of Massif du Sud, and Christian Mars, president of the CMSQ, also seals a strategic partnership between a Québec entrepreneur in the construction sector (Oikos Construction) and an international industry expert (founder of the eLiberty Group, a European leader in management software for ski resorts).

“We had everything we needed to align around the future vision of Québec’s ski centers and the democratization of the sport,” explains Christian Mars, president of the Compagnie des Montagnes.

I was looking to professionalize the operation of my mountain while preserving its regional identity. “This partnership allows us to move in that direction,” adds Pierre-Yves Charest, owner of Massif du Sud.

According to Christian Mars, other discussions are underway with resorts interested in joining the group.

“The agreement with Massif du Sud illustrates the flexibility of our business model. Sometimes we acquire a private resort, sometimes we take over a municipal mountain with an investment plan, or we sign management or partnership agreements. The goal remains the same: to enhance the value offered to skiers, maintain affordable prices, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the mountains,” he notes.

This cooperative approach already allows the CMSQ to offer a complete and diverse ski experience at an affordable price, thanks to operational synergies, shared resources, and greater collective visibility.
